Is anyone else playing the COVID-19 psychosomatic game?
You know what I mean…
Is that a sore throat I feel ? Shit… COVID!
Maybe it was screaming into my pillow "I need space!" for an hour on Easter Sunday. Nah...
Am I short of breath? SHit…COVID!!
Maybe I forgot to breathe yesterday with all the apocalyptic news out there ? Nah.. it’s COVID.
Why am I so achey?? FEVER? SSSHIt….COOOOOVID!!
Maybe it’s the violent moping, wiping, laundry, dish cleaning, hand washing I’m doing? Nah…..covid…definitely covid.
Just me? Ok…
The news is rife with stories of the toll COVID-19 has taken on our collective physical health, economy and mental state. Our lexicon has expanded from using "out of an abundance of caution" to "flatten the curve" to "easing lockdowns". Mostly we wait. While we wait, we think ...and for some, like me, that can take you to some interesting places.
Pilgrimage, through stories in books and life, will get you there. Enjoy the tour.
